Where to Recycle Old Electronics in Singapore (E-Waste Guide)

E-waste is anything with a plug, battery or circuit board that you no longer want. It contains metals worth recovering and substances that shouldn't end up in an incinerator, so it needs its own route.

What counts as e-waste?

  • Phones, tablets, laptops and chargers
  • Small appliances such as kettles, hair dryers and rice cookers
  • Large appliances such as fridges, washing machines and air-conditioners
  • Batteries and lamps

Drop-off options

Singapore has an e-waste recycling programme with collection bins at many retail outlets, community spaces and malls. Check the National Environment Agency (NEA) website for the current list of locations and what each bin accepts.

Replacing an appliance?

Retailers who deliver a new appliance will often take the old one away at the same time. Ask when you order, because it's usually the easiest option.

Too heavy or too many?

For a whole flat's worth of old appliances, a pickup service that hands e-waste to licensed recyclers is the practical route. Ask for a receipt that shows where it went.

Before you hand it over

  • Back up and factory reset phones and laptops.
  • Remove SIM and memory cards.
  • Tape over exposed battery terminals.
